ISLAMABAD:(APS)MARCH 24,2016-Foreign Office has said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will attend the nuclear security summit during his upcoming visit to the United States.
At his weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, spokesman Nafees Zakaria said Pakistan’s participation in the summit on the prime ministerial level manifests the importance Pakistan attaches to nuclear security.
About the chances of meeting between the prime ministers of Pakistan and India in Washington, the spokesperson said no formal proposal has been received in this regard from the Indian side so far.
To a question about hoisting of Pakistani flags in Occupied Kashmir, he said it reflect what the Kashmiris want.
To another question, the spokesman once again rejected any organized presence of Daesh in Pakistan.
He said Pakistan has achieved major successes in the war on terror. He said Pakistan is cooperating with the international community to root out terrorism.
Regarding Afghan peace process, he said efforts are underway to bring the Afghan government and Taliban to the negotiating table.
The spokesman emphasized there is no military solution to the Afghan problem.He said Pakistan has a vital stake for peace and stability in Afghanistan.
