PESHAWAR:(APS)May 8, 2016- The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Engr. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that due to the efforts of incumbent Government and sacrifices of our security forces the peace has been restored in the country. He said the basic aim to organize the sports events is to promote constructive recreational activities. He said, indeed, there can never be two opinions about importance of sports in promoting healthy civic norms in any society.
Addressing as the chief guest at the “49th KP Amateur Golf Cup – 2016 at Golf Ground here in Peshawar on Sunday afternoon, the Governor said this province has produced Golf champions of the international fame and their contribution for the promotion of this game in the province and country are highly appreciable. “The people of this province have seen a very difficult time in last few years in shape of terrorism. This had direct bearing on social, economic and psychological aspects on general public. To restore normalcy in the province sincere efforts are being made at all levels and we are committed to eliminate the menace of extremism and terrorism from our society once and for all”, he added. “We have a very rich history of contributing in promotion of almost all the internationally acknowledged popular games and both this province and FATA produced shinning stars in every discipline of sports. Whose role in promoting soft image of the nation both at national and international level is widely acclaimed, he remarked. He said we are peace loving people and have struggled and sacrificed for restoration of peace and we would continue our efforts for maintenance of lasting peace. He appreciated the young golfers for their successful participation in the tournament. He also distributed the prizes and trophies among the winners of the Championship and congratulated them.
Earlier on his arrival at the Golf ground, Station Commander, Brigadier Khizar Sultan Raja welcomed the Governor. The ceremony was also attended by senior officials of armed forces along with their family members.
