ISLAMABAD:(APS)March 7,2017-Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that Pakistan is successfully moving towards the destination of safety and security.
She was addressing an exhibition “Safe and Secure Pakistan” in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The Minister of State said for the first time all stakeholders sat together under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and evolved a narrative that led to launching of national internal security policy.
She said as a result of successful implementation of the policy, there has been marked reduction in the incidents of terrorism. She recalled that there were 2400 incidents of terrorism in the country in 2013 which have now come down to just 160.
The Minister of State said the exhibition is best example of public-private partnership in augmenting efforts to make Pakistan safe and secure. She said apart from efforts of the Government and the law-enforcing agencies there is need to bridge the technological gap so as to effectively combat the menace of terrorism and strengthen the national security.
Marriyum Aurangzeb also referred to reforms in curriculum and safe city project and said the Ministry of Science and Technology is investing in research and development to make Pakistan secure.
Later, responding to questions by newsmen, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Maryam Aurangzeb has said Imran Khan’s remarks about foreign players participating in the final of PSL are regrettable.
She said successful holding of the final was a message to terrorists from fearless Pakistans to brace the challenge squarely.
The Minister of State said Imran Khan visits India in connection with Indian Super League, offers commentary and awards trophies. However, he declares as madness the bold decision of the Punjab Government to accept the challenge and organize the final in Lahore. She said whom whose cause Imran Khan was promoting by creating fears and apprehensions about PSL final in Pakistan.
She said remarks of Imran Khan about foreign players are reflective of his mentality and people would think many times before making a choice in 2018 general elections.
To another question, the Minister of State said action is taken against those misusing the platform of social media. She said there is freedom of speech and everyone is welcome to offer constructive criticism but technology must not be misused for spreading rumours and lies.
