Nawaz Sharif will have to go jail on prove corruption: Imran Khan

LAHORE:(APS)MAY 1,2016- Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan addressed a political gathering on Lahore’s Mall Road as part of the party’s recently launched anti-corruption drive across the country.

The PTI chief thanked the people present there for braving the heat and showing up at the gathering on his call and having a cause.

At the start of his speech, Imran spoke for the rights of labourers and urged the need for provision of better living and health facilities for them.

The PTI chief said that if proven guilty the prime minister won’t go home but he will be sent to jail.

He was referring to the premier’s address to the nation last week, where Nawaz had vowed that he will resign and go home if proven guilty in the Panama Papers probe.

Imran went on to talk about the precedents of accountability set by world leaders when allegations of corruption were levelled against them.

The PTI chief then mentioned the name of the prime minister and said that Nawaz Sharif is adamant that he has done nothing wrong despite being proven guilty of corruption.

Imran alleged that Sharif family had only one factory before coming into power, but now — after years of staying in power — the Sharif family owns dozens of factories.

Billions of taxpayers’ money was used on developing the Raiwind estate,” he claimed.

“The daily corruption count in Pakistan is around Rs12 billion and it is done in the name of new development projects and receiving kick-backs on them,” said Imran.

The PTI’s anti-corruption drive is geared towards garnering public and political support.

The party is attempting to garner support from opposition parties for its plans for a ‘Raiwind March’ protesting the Sharif family’s ownership of offshore companies revealed by the Panama Papers.
