ISLAMABAD:(APS) May 27, 2016-The Standing Committee on Information Broadcasting and National Heritage adjourned its meeting, in protest due to absence of Secretary, Ministry of Interior and Director General, FIA from the meeting. The Committee decided to exercise Rule 227 (4) of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007 in case both the official do not turn up before the Committee in its next meeting.
The Standing Committee on Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage met under the chairmanship of Pir Muhammad Aslam Bodla, MNA in Parliament House, and this afternoon to discuss the issue of non-payment of salaries to the staff of Bol TV Channel. The matter was raised by the then Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahid Ullah Khan in the House and referred to the Committee.
The Committee expressed its displeasure on absence of Secretary, Ministry of Interior and Director General, FIA without any cogent reason. The Committee was of the view that the issue of non-payment of salaries of Staff of Bol TV Channel was outstanding since long which needed to be resolved without further delay. The Committee unanimously resolved to proceed under Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly in case both the officials do not turn up before the Committee in its next meeting.
The members of the Committee individually expressed their concern on non-resolution of the issue and said that the matter may be resolved at the earliest keeping in view of the hardship of the Bol TV Staff and in accordance with the Orders of the Honourable Islamabad High Court.
The meeting was attended by MNAs, Malik Shakir Bashir Awan, Mr. Muhammad Tallal Chaudry, Mian Muhammad Farooq, Mr. Tahir Iqbal Ch., Ms. Ghulam Bibi Bharwana, Ms. Parveen Masood Bhatti, Ms. Arifa Khalid Parvez, Ms. Belum Hasnain, Mr. Murad Saeed, Malik Muhammad Aamir Dogar, Ms. Naeema Kishwer Khan, Senator Mushahid Ullah Khan, as special invitee, Secretary M/o Information Broadcasting and National Heritage, Chairman, PEMRA and other senior officers of the concerned departments..
