ISLAMABAD:(APS) Feb 4,2017- Chaudhry Barjees Tahir Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs said in a message on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day that the Government and the people of Pakistan reiterate their continued and steadfast political, moral and diplomatic support to the people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in their heroic struggle for their inalienable right to self-determination. The people of Jammu and Kashmir were promised this right seven decades ago by the international community, however, India has continued to deny them their inalienable right by refusing to implement UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir.
He added that the valiant and courageous people of Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir have shown exemplary steadfastness in their struggle for freedom from Indian subjugation. In the course they have gone through unimaginable sufferings and sacrifices. Yet, they have shown heroic perseverance in waging struggle against the Indian Yoke. The Indian state-terrorism apparatus, despite its appalling brutalities, can never crush their spirit and aspirations for freedom. All the Indian efforts to defame the freedom struggle by labeling it as terrorism have failed miserably and have been rejected by the international community. Freedom struggle cannot, and must not be equated with terrorism.
He added that we urge the international community to wake up and take notice of the gross human rights violations occurring in IOK. It is also the responsibility of the international community to fulfill its promise made with the people of Jammu and Kashmir 70 years ago of granting them their right to self-determination through a free and impartial plebiscite. The revered principles of international law, justice and humanity must not be compromised for economic and political expediency.
He added that Pakistan reminds the international community, particularly India of its obligations and urges it to fulfill the promise made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir by implementing the UN Security Council resolutions. Jammu & Kashmir is the core dispute between India and Pakistan and peace in the region will not be achieved until the resolution of this dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir
On the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, we reiterate our firm and continued moral, diplomatic and political support to the people of IOK in their sacred struggle. Only implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions can amicably resolve the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
