ISLAMABAD:(APS)FEB 23,2016-The National Assembly was informed on Tuesday that Motorway from Lahore to Islamabad is being completely rehabilitated by the FWO on Built, Operate and Transfer basis.
This was stated by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmad while responding to a calling attention notice.
He said during the rehabilitation work fence along motorway has been damaged at some places.
He assured as soon as the motorway is rehabilitated, new fence will be erected.
Replying to another calling attention notice the Minister of State said according to the vision of the Prime Minister the government is working for the development of under-developed areas to bring them at par with the developed parts of the country.
The House held discussion on a motion regarding problems arising out of increasing pollution in the country.
Taking part in the discussion, members said pollution is a serious problem, which caused many diseases.
Opposition members staged a walkout from the House reacting over passing process of a motion of thanks for President’s address to the joint sitting of the Parliament.
Leader of the Opposition Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah on a point of order said that they will continue to boycott the proceedings when the Deputy Speaker is in the chair.
Three bills were introduced in the National Assembly.
The House passed a resolution urging the government to take steps to establish a NADRA registration centre at new Sabzi Mandi in Sialkot District.
Parliamentary Secretary for Interior Maryam Aurangzeb told the House that registration is being carried out in the area through mobile registration vehicle.
The House also passed a unanimous resolution calling upon PIA to consider starting flights to various airports in Balochistan in consultation with the Civil Aviation Authority.
The House will now meet on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
