SWAT (APS) November 11, 2016– Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif laid foundation stone of Swat Cantonment on Friday, construction of which was approved on September 8, 2015.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that Corps Commander Lt General Hidayat ur Rehman and Swat GOC Major General Asif Ghafoor received the COAS.
The army chief paid visits to Mangora, Kanju and Khwazakhela and he was accompanied by Chief Minister (CM) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pervez Khattak and the governor.
During his visit, the cantonment in Swat was laid foundation stone of and the chief also visited under-construction army public school.
In his address, General Sharif said that construction of the cantonment there would held deter terrorists and revitalize confidence of all the law enforcement agencies.
He said that the military was pursing at least 700 small and large-scale development projects in areas where operations were carried out against terrorists. Army chief said that the world acknowledged Pakistan Army’s capabilities using which an entire cycle of operation, reconstruction and rehabilitation was completed.
General Sharif also visited freshly constructed Khalifa Bin Zaid model Hospital in Swat.
