ISLAMABAD:(APS)March 9,2017-A scuffle broke out between lawmakers of the Pakistan Muslim League-N and the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf on Thursday outside the National Assembly after PML-N leader called PTI chief Imran Khan a “traitor” during the assembly proceedings.
PML-N Member National Assembly (MNA) Mian Javed Latif said that Imran Khan is a “traitor” due to his remarks against the foreign players who had visited Lahore for the Pakistan Super League final last week.
The scuffle broke out between Saeed and Latif as both the lawmakers were exiting the assembly building following the NA session during which there was a heated exchange of words.
While commenting on the matter, Saeed claimed that the PML-N parliamentarians had also used derogatory and foul language against members of the PTI in the past.
During Thursday’s session Jawed Latif called Imran Khan a traitor, he asserted.
“When I protested against it, the PML-N lawmakers told me they had labelled my leader as a traitor and not me,” Saeed said as he urged the Speaker of National Assembly to take notice of the issue.
Addressing a press conference following the scuffle, PML-N leader Talal Chaudhary said the PTI was not conducting its politics in a respectable manner.
He said members of the PTI “attack” the assembly on the floor of the parliament and from “outside” as well.
Chaudhry added that PTI members are “narrow minded and frustrated just like their leader”.
Scuffles between members of the ruling and opposition parties on the floor of the National Assembly have remained common and friction between the PTI and PML-N had increased in recent weeks while the Panamagate hearings were on-going in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
In January, a scuffle had broke out as members from the opposition parties had requested the speaker to submit a privileged motion against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Members of the PTI had indulged in sloganeering against the government during the session and called the prime minister a “thief”.
