9,000 megawatts to be added to national grid by 2018: Abid Sher Ali


ISLAMABAD:(APS)March 25, 2016-Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali told the National Assembly on Friday that the government is working on several power projects and about nine thousand megawatts of electricity will be added to the national grid by March 2018 and load-shedding will be eliminated.

He said electricity generation will be increased to 18,000 MW by the end of this year.

He said new transmission lines are being laid and the lengthy transmission lines are being bifurcated to avoid line losses.

To a question, Abid Sher Ali said that seventy percent work of land acquisition has been completed for Diamer-Bhasha Dam project. He said government has released 45 billion rupees for hundred percent land acquisition.

Minister of State for National Health Services Saira Afzal Tarar informed the House that for treatment of Hepatitis C, original brand of Sovaldi tablet is available from Ferozsons at 38,000 rupee per 28 tablets while Generics are available for 5,868 rupees per 28 tablets from 11 companies.
